2014 Presidents Welcome

Dear BV Families,

Greetings! Welcome to the 2014 Blossom Valley PONY Baseball season!

I would like to extend a heartfelt “Welcome” to the newest members of our BV family. Our merger with San Jose Pacific Baseball is now complete. The transition went well thanks in no small part to the help of the PAC Board of Directors, including Ron Sgarlato, Bob Ruiz and many others.

The mark of any successful organization is continuity in leadership, and we continue to be blessed with the knowledge and wisdom of Abel Hernandez, Joe Gagliardi and Eddie Kubo. I wish to thank them for their mentoring, tutelage and sage wisdom, and most of all for their friendship and selfless dedication to PONY Baseball.

With new family members come new ideas, new perspectives and new energy. Blossom Valley PONY Baseball has a fantastic board of directors, and their sacrifices and the sacrifices of many, many others are the reason why BV continues to be the premier PONY baseball league in northern California.

BV emphasizes sportsmanship and character above all else. I encourage all players, parents, coaches and managers to make the extra effort this season to instill positive attitudes and values in our players, to exercise patience and be respectful to others, to use compliments instead of criticism to motivate the players, and also whenever possible to say “Thank you” to our many, many volunteers.

In closing I wish all of you a safe, successful and fun 2014 season. GO BV!!

Sincerely,
John Hughes
President
Blossom Valley PONY Baseball

9U BV*SB Bees take home the USSSA Winter Showdown Championship, Giannone hurls a perfect game.

9U BV*SB Bees take home the USSSA Winter Showdown Championship, Giannone hurls a perfect game.

The 9U BV*SB Bees won their third tournament in four months this past weekend at the USSSA Winter Showdown at Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale, Ca. It was a 5-0 clean sweep as they dominated the competition all weekend. The Bees were led by Tournament MVP Vincenzo Giannone and his PERFECT pitching performance in game one Sunday morning….PERFECT GAME…no hits, no walks, no errors. Congrats to “Vinny” and his teammates on achieving perfection on a day that all of the kids, coaches and parents will remember for a very long time.

With this tournament victory the BV*SB Bees have been re-classified by the USSSA from a 9U AA team to a 9U MAJOR team….putting them in a very select group as being one of the top 9U teams in all of California. Great job Bees!
