Positive Coaching Alliance

Blossom Valley PONY Baseball is committed to improving the youth baseball experience. This year Blossom Valley Pony Baseball is partnering with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) to help our coaches, parents and players transform youth sports so sports can transform our youth. Our partnership aims to help our coaches and parents teach our BVPB athletes how to achieve on and off the field.
BVPB core values include: Respect, for the game, the managers and coaches, teammates, the opposition, the umpires and the parents. Use positive words and actions to promote success. No angry words, no cursing or derogatory language on the field, no harassing the umpires. Play the game the way it was intended to be played with good sportsmanship.
To support those core values BVPB uses PCA, a Stanford University based non-profit organization. PCA works with coaches , organizational leaders and parents to more effectively teach young athletes not only how to win, but also how to learn about teamwork, discipline, respect and goal-setting through their sports experience. BVPB is committed to implementing a culture of positive coaching throughout the league. To ensure success, all BVPB personnel are expected to embrace and implement the values and guidelines that will be taught to key individuals at special workshops by a PCA certified trainer. The cooperation and participation of BVPB parents and coaches is fundamental to the league’s plans to adopt this culture.

Positive Coaching Workshops

BVPB funds a specified number of training sessions for key individuals, such as new managers and coaches, new board members and in some cases returning participants in BVPB. The Board of Directors reviews our relationship with PCA annually to determine the most effective approach and to determine the best use of PCA’s resources.
BVPB also encourages parents and other league participants to utilize the PCA on line training course. Individuals wishing to participate may register through BV and get a substantial discount through the league. Please contact president@bvponybaseball.com for more information.
