2011 BLOSSOM VALLEY 10U MUSTANG ALL-STARS HAVE A GREAT POST-SEASON

This summer, the 10U Mustang All-Stars had a great run towards the World Series. In the Sectional Tournament, held in Morgan Hill, the BV Mustang All-Stars went 4-0. The team defeated Morgan Hill B, S. San Francisco #2, and two wins against S. San Francisco #1. In these 4 games, BV put up a total of 50 runs and only allowed 4. As the #1 seed, the team advanced to the Regional Tournament.
In the Regional Tournament, held in San Jose at PAL Stadium, the Mustang All-Stars won another tournament, with a familiar 4-0 record. Once again, BV’s offense put up some big numbers, scoring 37 runs and only allowing 13. The wins came against – Sierra Valley (El Dorado Hills), our long-time rival – Brentwood, and once again, 2 wins against S. San Francisco #1. Including a thrilling 6-5 extra inning come-back victory in the championship game. With two consecutive tournament sweeps, Blossom Valley earned the northern CA birth to play in the Zone Tournament in southern California.
In the Western Zone Tournament, held in Los Alamitos, the Mustang All-Stars went 3-2, coming in 3rd place. The Western Zone consists of 12 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. The tournament consisted of eight teams who all advanced from their respective Regional Tournaments. Blossom Valley (Nor Cal), 3 southern CA teams – Los Alamitos (host), Charter Oak, and William S. Hart, and the states of Utah, Arizona, Washington, and Hawaii. Once again BV’s bats were strong, scoring 57 runs in the five games, but the excellent pitching of Hawaii knocked BV out of the tournament. During the tournament, BV was able to win 3 games. In the opener, BV beat the host – Los Alamitos, and also eliminated the state of Washington and Charter Oak from the tournament. Hart, a southern CA league, ended up winning the Zone Tournament and ultimately won the World Series which was played in Texas.
Overall, the 10U Mustang All Stars went 11-2 in post season play and had a strong showing in southern California. The high point of the postseason, were the two wins against southern California. In these two games, the offense made a strong statement by scoring 39 runs. Both of the SoCal manager’s made complimentary statements about BV, and the way our boys hit the ball. The boys worked extremely hard for two months and their play reflected this commitment. Thanks to everyone who made this post-season so memorable.
