On the warm twenty first evening of May 2012, the # 1 Seed “Amazing Angels” played host to the # 2 Seed “Powerful Pirates”. After Angel starting pitcher Cole “Lincecum” Meusel shut down the Pirates for the first two innings, Angel center fielder Thomas “Web Gem” Busse and shortstop Andrew “Captain Morgan”, banged out “back to back” singles to start the bottom of the third inning. First baseman “Slick Nick” Cordoni slammed his second double in two games to get the Angels on the score board. Left fielder Ryan “Rhino” Hansell rocketed another double to score two more Angel runs. Cole “Cain” Meusel aided to his cause by tripling to left field to make the score 4-0. Third baseman Eric “Big E” Smith energized a double to left field, to add another Angel run. Catcher Mathew “The Wall” Busse kept the rally going knocking in the sixth and final run of the Cordoni Angels’ third inning.

In the top of the third inning, Pirate centerfielder “Justin time” Hyland led off with a single to right field. Third baseman Jose “Hot Corner” Lopez singled to left field, but was caught stealing second base. Catcher Blake “The Beast” Carpenter muscled his second home run in two games to score the first two Pirate runs. In the top of the fourth inning First baseman “Nash Bridges” Berkowitz led off with a walk, and scored on a single by Left fielder “Jumping Jack Flash” Cannon to make the score 6-3. Right Fielder Dylan “D-squared” Diaz worked a walk, and EH Michael “The Masher” Smith reached first base on an infield single to load the bases, but were left stranded.

In the top of the fifth inning, and now in the shadows of the partially constructed Herman Junior High Gymnasium, Blake “Game Wining RBI” Carpenter singled, followed by “back to back” walks to shortstop “Brady Bunch” Hoyt and “Pluto Nash” Berkowitz to load the bases. Second baseman ”To the Max” Sosa worked another walk to score the fourth Pirates run. “Grand Salami” Cannon “jacked” the third pitch he saw over “Home Run Cone # 3” in left field for a Grand Slam to take the lead for the Lopez Pirates at 8-6. Left Fielder Michael “The Stranded One” Smith followed with a double down the third baseline, but was left stranded. In the bottom of the fifth, after three consecutive Angel singles, Relief pitcher Eddie “The Eagle” knocked in the seventh Angel run. Third baseman Riley “Coyote” Fisher was robbed of a base hit by Pirate shortstop Brady “Meep Meep” Hoyt to end the Acme Angels’ rally.

In the top of the sixth, after Pirate pitcher Alfonso “Iron Horse” Lopez walked and Blake “The Hulk” Carpenter singled, “Nash the Bash” Berkowitz knocked in the ninth Pirate run. In the bottom of the sixth inning, “Web Gem” Busse singled, “Captain Morgan” doubled, and Second baseman Juan “Gonzo” Gonzalez knocked in the game tying ninth run for the Angels. After Left fielder Isaiah “Fernando” Fernandez was robbed of a base hit by “Justin the nick of time” Hyland, Cole “Bumgarner” Meusel banged out his third hit of the game, and “Eric the Red” Smith knocked in the eventual Game Winning RBI’s to make the score Angels-11, Pirates-9. In the top of the seventh inning, “EverReady Eric” Smith found some extra battery energy and “closed out” the Pirates to make the
“Amazing Angels of Cordoni-ville” the 2012 BVPB Pony division CHAMPIONS !.

Prizes will be awarded to the players after the pre-game clinic and before the National Anthem. Please have the winners together along the 1st base side line and ready to go at 5 pm. If any of the winning players are participating in the pre-game clinic please let them complete the clinic before having them line up for their prize.

Pre-Game Clinic:

Pepsi and the San Jose Giants have joined forces to present a clinic prior to the game. Bring your glove and learn the fundamentals of baseball from a handful of San Jose Giants players. Registration begins 2 1/2 hours prior to first pitch at the first base side entrance next to the player’s lot. After the clinic, participants will watch the instructors put their words into action as the Giants take the field in California League action. Tailgating and Gate Opening

SJ Giants will be opening their parking lot gates at 2 pm on Saturday for all of you tailgaters. The cost for parking is $10
Please remember that approximately 45 minutes before the start of the game security will come around asking you to start shutting down for the game.

The front gates to get into the stadium will open at 4:30 pm

Last but not least:

Remember that this is the only fundraiser for Blossom Valley and that it is a family event. Lets have a great time and enjoy some good food, good drinks, family, friends and what will sure be a great ballgame with AMAZING fireworks after the game!!
