Please Do Not Mow Outfield Grass on Oak Grove District Fields

To the BVPB League,

My name is Kirk Zobac and I am the Field Director for our league. I attended a mandatory Oak Grove School District meeting on 3/24/09. This meeting was to discuss rules and make decisions about the use of properties owned by the District. All sports leagues that utilize Oak Grove School District property were in attendance. In attendance from the School District were Jeff George - Director of Operations, Bruce Murphy - Facilities Supervisor, and Chris Jew - Assistant Director of Finances.

In order to secure and maintain permits for use of these properties, we must abide by all rules set forth by the district. One significant change has been made by the School District regarding mowing of the grass. We are NO longer are allowed to mow the outfield grass of any Oak Grove School District  property.  The district was also going to not allow us to mow the infields of our Bronco and Pony fields at Herman, but after many debates, we came to an agreement and we CAN still mow the infield grass and maintain the infield playing surface. These decisions are specific to the property of the Oak Grove School District and do not effect the Calero fields (owned by East Side Union School District). Here is a list of properties that our league utilizes that are owned by Oak Grove School District: Herman Middle School, Baldwin Elementary, Blossom Valley Elementary, Dickinson School (South Valley), Glider Elementary, Santa Teresa Elementary, Stipe Elementary, and Davis Middle School. I am working with District officials to get their mowing schedule coordinated so it will benefit our league.

Everyone must abide by this new rule and it is not open for further discussion with Oak Grove School District. Thank you all for your support on this new District rule.

BVPB Field Director

No Parking or Drop-offs on Calero Blacktop Area

We have been receiving complaints that some of our Mustang parents and coaches have been parking or dropping off of equipment on the blacktop/basketball courts at Calero School. We have been told by the school district we are NOT allowed to have any vehicle driving or parking on any blacktop or grass areas (other than designated parking spots in the parking lot). We MUST take this seriously, as we can easily have our permit revoked from this school district. Please be aware that the property just changed hands from Oak Grove School District to East Side Union School District and we need to make certain we follow all of their rules! Additionally, as I'm certain you are aware, there are many safety concerns with driving and parking on blacktop areas. Please take this seriously.

Please understand, I know that other organizations that use this school, drive and park on the blacktop. I don't know what arrangements they have with the district, I can only tell you ours, and we have been reminded that we need to stay off. Please follow these rules so we can continue to use this school site as our baseball fields.

Thanks in advance,

Greg Schlick
