Blossom Valley PONY Baseball is committed to improving the youth baseball experience. This year Blossom Valley Pony Baseball is partnering with Positive Coaching Alliance to help Coaches, Parents and Players transform youth sports so sports can transform our youth .  Our Partnership aims to help our coaches and parents teach our BVPB athletes how to achieve on and off the field. As part of a targeted effort to provide the most positive experience for our athletes, BVPB has established a partnership with the positive Coaching alliance (PCA) .

PCA, a Stanford University based non-profit organization, works with coaches , organizational leaders and parents to more effectively teach young athletes not only how to win, but also how to learn about teamwork, discipline, respect and goal-setting through their sports experience.   BVPB is committed to implementing a culture of positive coaching throughout the league.  To ensure success, all BVPB personnel are expected to adopt the culture that will be taught at special workshops by a PCA certified trainer. The cooperation and influence of BVPB parents and coaches is fundamental to the league’s plans to adopt this culture.

For more detailed information about the principles of positive coaching, please visit the Positive Coaching Alliance website at www.positivecoach.org.

Positive Coaching Workshops

To spread the word and to increase the understanding of Positive Coaching techniques, BVPB will provide a number of educational workshops, beginning in the spring  that may be attended by parents and coaches. The workshops will be provided at no additional charge , providing a parent is already a coach or paying registration fees for one or more players. There will be different workshops for coaches and for parents.

BVPB will also be holding workshops for team parents.  There will be an expectation from team players and parents that coaches will be using the new positive coaching tools. Therefore, it is vital that all BVPB coaches, assistant coaches  attend this essential workshop.  All other BVPB parents are strongly encouraged to attend as well.

To attend PCA workshops you need to register. Registration is required because we need to plan for seats and workbooks.  To find out dates of upcoming workshops please check the BVPB Calendar Link on any BVPB page or send email to president@bvponybaseball.com.

Testimonials

"My lacrosse team did very well, once again-undefeated in state play and a state championship! We had our first All American who is off to the University of Pennsylvania to play for them. I am very proud of the opportunities that sport has afforded so many of my players. I really do attribute our successes to positive coaching which leads to a positive team mental attitude. Every one involved had benefited." - Deb Pavle, Varsity Coach, Grosse Pointe South High School & 2004 Coach of the Year in the Midwest Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association

"We recently conducted the 2 hour Leadership session with our BOD members and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Our next move is to deliver a mandatory manager, coach and team rep clinic that will cover approximately 120 of our volunteers with direct relationships to our youth athletes. The PCA philosophy adds a structured format to the best coaching techniques that you have seen on the field which allows a league to improve the consistency of quality coaching throughout the league by applying common terms, philosophy framework, and tools." - President, Saratoga Little League

"I've been to three (PCA) workshops and it never fails that I pick up another valuable idea. I took lots of notes again during this workshop." - Kelly Hanley, Volleyball Coach, St. Patrick's School
